Apprenticeship Training (Fee) Vouchers

 

 

From 1 July 2007, Apprenticeship Training (Fee) Vouchers valued, at up to $500, will be available to eligible apprentices undertaking an Australian Apprenticeship in a skills shortage area as defined by the National Skills Needs List (NSNL).

 

Australian Apprentices, of any age, who commence their first or second apprenticeship year on or after 1 July 2007, may be eligible for an Apprenticeship Training (Fee) Voucher. The voucher will entitle eligible Australian Apprentices or their employers to claim up to $500 for course fee costs incurred as part of the first and/or second year of their apprenticeship.

What are Apprenticeship Training (Fee) Vouchers?

Am I eligible for an Apprenticeship Training (Fee) Voucher?

All first and second year apprentices of any age who are undertaking an Australian Apprenticeship at a Certificate III or IV level in areas of skills shortage, may be eligible to receive the Apprenticeship Training (Fee) Voucher.

Eligible Australian Apprentices who commence the first or second year of their Australian Apprenticeship on, or after, 1 July 2007 will be able to apply for the Apprenticeship Training (Fee) Vouchers at any time after 1 July 2007. Eligible first year apprentices may apply following completion of their probationary period.

How do apprentices apply for a voucher?

The Apprenticeship Training (Fee) Voucher is a reimbursement of course fee costs paid by Australian Apprentices or their employers.   

 

To obtain a Apprenticeship Training (Fee) Voucher form, please ring 13 38 73.  Your details will be taken and  referred to the ATV processing team who will check your eligibility and issue a form to your home address.  You can also contact your Australian Apprenticeships Centre who will also be able to assist in checking your eligibility and issue you with the form.  The claim form will need to be completed and returned with proof of payment of course fees, to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) will arrange for payment to be directly credited into the nominated bank account.

When can I make a claim?

Eligible apprentices or their employers can make a claim for reimbursement as soon as they have paid their course fees.

First year apprentices can claim reimbursement of course fee costs following completion of their probationary period.

Can I make more than one claim?

Eligible apprentices can make multiple claims for reimbursement of course fees up to the value of $500 each year, for the first and second years of their Australian Apprenticeship.

The Apprenticeship Training (Fee) Vouchers are worth up to $500 per year for each of the first and second years of an eligible Australian Apprenticeship.

What if an apprentice’s course fees are more than $500?

The Australian Apprentice or their employer will be responsible for any additional course fee costs for training.

What if I lose my voucher? 

You will be able to obtain a replacement voucher from your Australian Apprenticeships Centre or from this website.   The claim will need to be completed and returned, with proof of payment of course fees, to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
