“The company has already mapped out a number of paths that I can choose from when I have finished my apprenticeship...”
Paul Johnson seriously contemplated leaving high school in Year 10 but realizing at an early age that most employers preferred Year 12 graduates gave Paul reason enough to push on and stay at school.
It was towards the close of Year 12 that Paul’s father pointed out two advertisements in the local paper, both run by major national companies, advertising for apprentices in auto electrics. Attending initial interviews with both businesses, it was the incentives offered by Holden that helped Paul choose which of the applications he should put his energy into.
Now in his second year, Paul enjoys working in the company’s experimental garage, developing and testing new electrical equipment for their bevy of concept cars and new models. Acknowledging that he feels very privileged to be able to train at the cutting edge of automotive technology and research, he looks forward to what the future might hold for him.
