The Minister’s Awards for Excellence for Commitment to Australian Apprenticeships is presented to an exceptional individual who has been through all the phases of the Australian Apprenticeships system, completed an apprenticeship or traineeship, worked in their trade and is now involved in training Australian Apprentices as part of their business or employment.
The outstanding contribution made by these individuals benefits not only the apprentices and trainees who receive experienced first hand training but also the nation as a whole, as we strive to tackle the skills shortage and develop a skilled workforce in building our nation’s economy into the future.
I am very pleased to announce that this year’s awards will be supported and co-hosted by Skills Australia. Skills Australia is a significant contributor to the strengthening of partnerships between industry, employers and government.
I invite and encourage all staff of Australian Apprenticeships Centres, businesses and other organisations to nominate an individual for this prestigious award in 2009.

The Commitment Award recognises the lifetime achievements of an individual in relation to the training of Australian Apprentices.
The national winner will receive prize money of $2000, a trophy and certificate.
